The second volume, A Musician Not a Gardener, explored the positive aspects of his life in an Infantry Line Band from 1963 to 1975. Now, in this third and final volume, David writes about the the social, political and cultural background to his story. Examining the legal and historical issues that have controlled and affected the lives of gay men in the past century, David explains how laws and views on homosexuality have changed for the better, and how the lives of gay men have also changed.
